Seed Oils and Health Seed oils, such as those derived from soybeans, corn, and canola, have been scrutinized for their potential health impacts. High in omega-6 fatty acids, they can contribute to inflammation and related health problems when consumed in excess. However, they are just one aspect of broader agricultural and dietary concerns. Petrochemical Agricultural Industry The extensive use of synthetic chemicals in agriculture is a major concern. Here are the key components: Ammonium Nitrate and Synthetic Fertilizers: Ammonium nitrate and other nitrogen-based fertilizers are widely used to boost crop yields. These are often derived from natural gas and have significant environmental footprints. Overuse can lead to soil degradation, water pollution (eutrophication), and the release of nitrous oxide, a potent greenhouse gas. Pesticides, Herbicides, and Fungicides: Chemicals such as glyphosate (a herbicide), neonicotinoids (insecticides), and various fungicides are used to protect crops from pests and diseases. These chemicals can persist in the environment, harming non-target species including pollinators like bees, and entering water supplies. Synthetic Chemicals and Additives: Thousands of synthetic chemicals are used in food production and packaging. Their long-term health effects are often not fully understood. There is concern about bioaccumulation and potential endocrine-disrupting effects. Environmental and Health Impacts Pollution: Runoff from farms can carry these chemicals into rivers, lakes, and oceans, affecting aquatic ecosystems and human water supplies. Soil Health: Intensive chemical use can degrade soil health, reducing its fertility and increasing dependence on chemical inputs. Human Health: Exposure to certain agricultural chemicals has been linked to various health issues, including cancers, neurological disorders, and endocrine disruption. Corruption and Criminal Syndicate The agricultural industrial complex is riddled with corruption, payoffs, and kickbacks. Large agrochemical companies, functioning like a criminal syndicate, exercise significant control over agricultural practices and regulatory policies. Their influence is vast, and they employ covert and indirect tactics to eliminate anyone who attempts to criticize or expose their operations. These tactics often involve highly accidental techniques, making it difficult to directly link these actions to the companies involved. Lack of Transparency and Testing Testing and Regulation: There is a lack of comprehensive testing and regulation of the cumulative effects of these chemicals on human health and the environment. Corporate Influence: Due to corruption and the influence of these powerful entities, there is a stifling of independent research and criticism. Whistleblowers and researchers often face severe repercussions, deterring investigations and public discourse. Advocacy and Solutions Sustainable Agriculture: Promoting organic farming, permaculture, and other sustainable practices can reduce reliance on synthetic chemicals. Crop rotation, polyculture, and the use of natural pest predators are alternative methods to maintain soil health and control pests. Policy Changes: Stronger regulations and independent testing are crucial to protect health and the environment. Supporting policies that reduce chemical use and promote biodiversity. Consumer Awareness: Increased awareness and demand for sustainably produced food can drive change. Supporting local and organic farmers, and reducing consumption of heavily processed foods, can decrease the demand for chemical-laden products. Research and Advocacy: Continued research into the long-term effects of these chemicals is needed. Advocacy for greater transparency and accountability from agrochemical companies can help bring about necessary changes. Addressing these issues requires a multi-faceted approach involving consumers, policymakers, farmers, and scientists working together to create a more sustainable and health-conscious food system.

The fix to poor sleep can be as simple as some good sodium like Realsalt, pink salt, or Celtic salt. I take some before bed as well as a few shakes here and there throughout the day. Salt prevents a cortisol dump in the middle of the night , which is what can wake one up. In other words, it’s simply physical stress, not necessarily mental or emotional stress. This is an important distinction, otherwise everyone will quit their jobs and any other challenges in life. It could simply be physical stress from lack of minerals/ salt (not table salt, it’s sodium chloride). See the “J” curve on salt intake with the more recent research , not old 1950s guidelines. Talk with your doctor if you are salt restricted.

There appears to be considerable research showing that consuming vegetable oils does not result in an increase in CRP/inflammation (see Nutrition Made Simple, Gil Carvalho, UA-cam video posted 10-17-22), so some say they're not a problem. The decades-long trends appear to indicate that they are a very significant problem. How does one reconcile these research findings with the health effects described by Nina?

Wonderful presentation by Dr Ludwig. Important that this is at SwissRe, one of the big 10 reinsurance companies globally. These are the guys who must push their customers ( Aetna, United Health, Blue Coss etc) to lower their claims by focusing on risk avoiding programs. This will drop the costs in the system. However, as always with insurance, there is a massive conflict of interest. Insurance companies and reinsurance alike benefit from higher premium prices. These funds ( premiums) go straight into their float, which is invested in the markets. More float, more return on equity. However, as it it a commodity business, if one insurer rewards customers with cheap er policies by following LCHF lifestyles, and gain market share, then others.must follow.

Olive oil was not used as a food until the 19th century? Are you serious? So the ancient Greeks were growing megatons of olives to oil their bodies before games? You don't even have Doctoral training and your "research" with one person (Yannis Hamilkalis, PhD) claiming that there's no "certainty" on the evidence of olive oil's use as a food in antiquity sounds Trumpy. The claim by Yannis Hamilkalis regarding olive oil consumption in ancient Greece is a topic of debate among historians. Here's a breakdown of the arguments: Hamilkalis' Argument: He suggests that ancient Greek peasants consumed very little olive oil due to economic limitations and a focus on other staples like bread and grains. He argues that evidence points towards olive oil production primarily for uses other than cooking, such as lamp fuel or soap making. Counterarguments: Archaeological Evidence: Olive oil lamps and storage vessels have been found in archaeological digs across ancient Greece, suggesting widespread domestic use of olive oil, not just for fuel but potentially for cooking as well. Literary References: There are references to olive oil consumption in Byzantine literature, although the exact quantities might be debated. Economic Viability: While some peasants might have had limited olive oil consumption, others, especially those involved in olive cultivation, could have had more access to it for dietary purposes. Uncertainties: Quantifying exact olive oil consumption for the average peasant is difficult due to the lack of precise data. Distinguishing between olive oil used for cooking versus other purposes can be challenging based on archaeological evidence alone. Current View: Most historians believe that olive oil was likely a part of the medieval Greek diet, though the exact amount might have varied depending on social class and location. Olive oil production likely served multiple purposes, including culinary use. The claim that olive oil wasn't used for cooking in medieval Greece is likely an oversimplification. Evidence suggests it was part of the diet, although the exact amount consumed is a topic of ongoing debate. In regards to non-peasant classes throughout the ancient Mediterranean, olive oil played a prominent role in their diet compared to the peasant class. Here's a breakdown of its culinary uses: Importance and Versatility: Olive oil was a valuable commodity and a symbol of wealth. Its presence in meals signaled a higher social status. It was used for a variety of culinary purposes: Cooking: Olive oil was the primary fat source for cooking meat, fish, vegetables, and grains. It was used for frying, sauteing, roasting, and dressing. Condiment: High-quality olive oil was drizzled on dishes for added flavor and moisture. Preservation: Foodstuffs like olives, fish, and meat were sometimes preserved in olive oil. Examples from Different Civilizations: Greece: Wealthy Greeks enjoyed dishes like roasted meats, fish cooked in olive oil with herbs, and stews flavored with olive oil. Bread dipped in olive oil was a common staple. Rome: Romans used olive oil extensively in their cuisine. They enjoyed olives themselves, incorporated olive oil into sauces like garum, and used it for frying and dressing vegetables. Egypt: Egyptians used olive oil for cooking, baking, and even as a beauty product. Wealthy Egyptians might have consumed more olive oil than their counterparts in Greece or Rome. Dietary Benefits (Ancient Perception): Beyond its taste, olive oil was also valued for its perceived health benefits. Some ancient texts mention its use for medicinal purposes, although these claims might not hold up to modern scientific scrutiny. Social Significance: Olive oil production and consumption were intertwined with social status. Owning olive groves and producing high-quality olive oil signified wealth and prosperity. Feasts often featured olive oil as a prominent ingredient, showcasing the host's wealth and generosity. Important Caveats: While olive oil consumption was higher for the middle and upper classes, it wasn't necessarily absent in peasant diets. Peasants involved in olive cultivation might have had more access to it. The exact quantities consumed are difficult to determine due to the lack of precise data from the time period. Overall: Olive oil played a major role in the culinary practices of the non-peasant class throughout the ancient Mediterranean. It was a valuable commodity used for cooking, a condiment, and even preservation. Its presence in meals signified wealth and social status.
